Historic Ex-Cellar Auction of Château Haut-Brion
To celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Dillon family’s acquisition of the estate, Sotheby’s Paris will stage, on 1 October 2026, a momentous auction of wines sourced exclusively and directly from the legendary cellars of Château Haut-Brion.
Nearly a century of rare vintages sourced directly from the estate
This event offers collectors an unprecedented opportunity to acquire wines of impeccable provenance spanning nearly a century, from 1935 to 2025.
Comprising 676 lots, the sale encompasses the full breadth of the estate’s production: Château Haut-Brion Rouge and Blanc, alongside Le Bahans Haut-Brion, Le Clarence de Haut-Brion, Les Plantiers de Haut-Brion and La Clarté de Haut-Brion.
Unprecedented Lots and Bespoke Experiences
At the heart of the auction is a series of six bespoke experiences, created explicitly for this anniversary and paired with selections of exceptionally rare vintages from Domaine Clarence Dillon.
Chief among the highlights is an extraordinary barrel of the 2025 vintage, offered exclusively as one of the landmark lots of the sale. The first barrel ever offered at auction by a First Growth, it contains 225 litres of Château Haut-Brion Rouge 2025, the equivalent of 300 750ml bottles. The wine will be bottled to order in formats chosen by the successful bidder and may feature a personalised back label.
Another exceptional lot, the Linley 75th Anniversary Console, designed by David Linley, Second Earl of Snowdon, together with Prince Robert of Luxembourg, is an exceptional collector’s piece at the intersection of wine, design, craftsmanship and family legacy. It brings together eight historic vintages of Château Haut-Brion, spanning 1935 to 2009.
Celebrating family legacy
A unique limited-edition case offered by Primum Familiae Vini, the association bringing together twelve of the world’s leading family-owned wine producers, will complete this exceptional offering. Accompanied by a “passport”, it will provide the successful bidder with the opportunity to discover each of the twelve estates through tailor-made visits and tastings.
